This is the Mozartsteg<\/strong>, an Art Nouveau Bridge<\/strong> in the heart of Salzburg<\/strong> city in Austria, above the Salzach River, closing the gap between the Imbergstra\u00dfe\/ Steingasse and Rodolfskai\/ Mozartplatz Square.<\/p>\n

Built in 1903, the erection of the bridge came about when a wealthy cafe owner along Imbergstra\u00dfe lobbied for it, sprung from his desire to beat his competitors on the other side of the river. When it was first built, a toll was charged for usage. But in 1920, the Mozartsteg became a public bridge. The little toll house right beside the bridge is now home to a local jewellery and craft artist. At opposite ends of the bridge, you can catch panoramic views of the other side of the river.<\/p>\n

In 1965, the bridge was featured in The Sound of Music<\/strong>, where Maria brought the Von Trapp family kids on a trip to town. Can you remember the scene?<\/p>\n
