Tucked away in the secluded valley of Azayle-Rideau is an 18-acre colourful mosaic spread of blooming poppies and budding cornflowers enveloping a quaint Renaissance castle.

Known as the flower gardens of La Chatonnière, there are in all 12 of these incredible scented gardens, delicately created to stimulate the senses.

And one of the more striking orchards is the Garden of Abundance.

"Garden

Just like how you’d protect your precious crown jewel, this garden is concealed from all sides, as though to keep from prying eyes. While the other gardens are stunning in their own right with deftly pruned fauna and flora, what makes this Orchard doubly unique is its leaf-shaped design. Add to its draw are the varied foliage that make the leaf complete. There are patches of ornamental cabbages, scallions, parsley, tomatoes, strawberries, celery, red chard chives and eggplant basil forming the shape. Standing at its edge, you’ll be inhaling a magical blend of scents from the different plant aromas while visually feasting on this little piece of surrealistic green land.

Apart from this Garden of Abundance, a visit here brings about an air of soothing calm. There are other gardens of explore, each richly themed and offers a pleasing fusion of plants, splashing vibrant colors to as far as the eye can see, with changing hues that follows the beat of every season, from shades of white, to blue to salmon red.

Add to this amazing sight is the perfect backdrop of the Château et Jardins de la Chatonniere, with its central court flanked by seven towers to complete the fairy-take like scene.

I can picture myself lost in the labyrinth of the flower gardens. Just me, the colourful sights and the uplifting scents, and nothing else. I’ll be the happiest person on earth.

And heck, I don’t even like flowers.
